Your mind: The Battlefield

22 09 2007

From Kay Arthur Lord, Heal My Hurts:

Satan’s goal is to set up strongholds or fortesses in our minds.  Our responsibility is to stop him.  In warfare, it’s strategic to set up a beachhead in your enemy’s territory. This gives an inside base of operations….

When you dwell on things that are not of God or that are against God, or when you fantasize evil, you are giving the enemy grouund on which he can erect a stronghold or a fortrees.  This is why Paul says we are “destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God” II COR 10:5

“In other words, whenever a thought came to Paul’s mind, he evaluated it to see if it was pleasing to Christ and if it was in acord witht he Word of God.”

Just some thoughts that hit me – I struggle with taking thoughts captive and then I dwell on them and they become bigger than the original statement…

Weekly….maybe….we shall see

Life tends to throw us curve balls once in a while.   Sometimes when life is going well … God says we will see how you handle these things.  These last few weeks has been okay.  I have been to the doctor and they are giving me medicine to treat my swollen hand.  It stinks.  I can’t type for very long either…so it is hard sometimes to type.

Then the life group that I have been a part of is changing.  I am not against change but just something I will need to get used to especially since I am thinking about leading or will be leading on this winter.  I am a little cautious but am truly excited.

Those are just two curves and there are a few more but I really can’t go into them right now.

Oh, KSU 2-1 and we will be on ABC on the 29th…GO KSU WILDCATS!!!

We will not forget…9/11

Tomorrow marks a sad anniversary in our Nation’s history.   I will never forget where I was when the planes hit the World Trade Center.  I was making photocopies of something (something to do with engineering).  I came back to my desk and remember them talking about the planes  hitting the buildings and it looked like Terrorism.  I remember being in a daze that day and not even that day but that week.  I remember all the radios that were banned coming on and us listening to the coverage and then going to the TVs to watch the coverage.  I also think about the fear that gripped me that day – thinking what the heck is going on – especially after the White House and Capital emptied out.

I also think of how businesses shut down that day to allow the employees time to digest what just happened.  I will not forget…I had a distant cousin in those buildings – I remember getting called within a couple days asking about a woman from Lee’s Summit – I didn’t know her  but out of curiousity I asked where she was born Beaver Crossing, NE – the exact place I was born.

We shall never forget the lives lost

We shall never forget the bravery shown that day

We shall never forget the price that our soldiers are paying today

I will never forget the unity of our nation that day and the days following…

Passing of a good friend…

6 09 2007

My friend was white, had brown streaks by her eyes, and you had to watch or you would be stolen from…who is this friend?

Sadie Bell Geis

She was my family’s  Brittany for 12 years.  We got her when she was a pup unfortunately she had really bad hips due to disease when she was real young.

  •  Her flying off the stairs and running around the house and then collapsing and falling asleep when she was a pup
  • Her streaming toilet paper down the stairs at my parents house.
  • Her stealing things and wanting food.  (She never harmed the item)
  • Play time between Holly and her
  • Her cute cute face.
  • Her barking when she was hungry

She was put down on Tuesday. My parents house a little empty compared to when she was around.  She was my little white furry friend and I will always have great memories of her.  How do not miss a great pet and dog like that?  I am sad but I have another dog named Holly at my folks and she is a great Golden…

My tribute to Sadie!  This was the last picture I toke of her.  She was old and didn’t move to well.
