Impacting Others

19 05 2007

I went down to Wichita last summer and went to church with one of my friends and I really loved that church and I have been keeping up with the messages there (or at least trying to  – now since they have Itunes Video Podcast – it’s easier).  Anyway, the Pastor is doing a series called Life Ink how we have been marked on throughout our lives – his first message was last Sunday and it was called Beauty Mark and he talked about how four different things can leave a good impression or beauty marks on our life.  I listened to these four things and have been thinking of them today – our encouraging words to others, a blessing we give to another, how we model and leave a good impession on people, and then acts of grace.

I am more convinced then ever that the third one is probably the most important.  I think modeling is hard but needs to be done.  It is hard these days to find someone who can say “follow me as I follow Christ”.  It is hard – and discouraging right now but it made me think how am I living and can I be a role model for others?    The question I am wrestling with is this – when people fall and stand back up and are seeking the Lord – is that a good model?  Yes, I believe it is.  It’s takes courage to get back up and you can model to others that failure is not the end but a beginning – a beginning to God developing character in the person that had a failure in his life if and only if that person will alllow it.    I just think of the people around the person who failed and how that can leave an eternal imprint on their lives and how important modeling truth and Christ to  others…

Just ramblings in my mind today…

Oh, I have to say this WAY TO GO ROYALS this week, 5-1 so far going into the game tonight which we should have a good chance to win since Meche is pitching. LET’S GO ROYALS!  LET’S GO ROYALS!

Gazelle Intensity :)

Okay, so I haven’t posted in a long time so I wanted to post something that really charged me up this week – besides some great learning in a Beth Moore study I am doing on my own.

Alot of people are probably familiar with Dave Ramsey – well I want to his live event at Municipal last Saturday (10,000 people were there – sold out event).  I was encouraged to go by a friend and it was the best 19 dollars spent by me in a long time.  It gave me a plan to save, pay off debt, invest, and give.  I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time.  The one main thing is the intensity by which he said that I have to go after debt (I had to laugh though – he said something about a student loan being around so long that it became a family pet).  Gazelle Intensity – run like crazy.  God says a borrower is servant to the lender – SO TRUE!!  I am on Baby Step 1 and will be going to Step 2 soon – Lord willing!

I am doing  Too Busy Not to Pray in my Life Group and it talked about focusing on God and not the problem – I think that is a good reminder considering what my church is going through right.  I am focusing on the mountain-mover instead of the mountain.

Light Post

5 05 2007

My last few post were heavy but I am moving forward – that is what God wants – He wants us to move forward and not be bogged down by the past.  So…

The Royals, 10-20. Ouch!  I was hoping for better.  Our hitting is suffering and is not great!   Our bullpen is giving up to many runs and Buddy Bell is  making poor decisions.  Dayton Moore knew what he was doing when he signed Gil Meche.  All I gotta say about him is WAY TO GO!  3-1 and has 7 quality starts out of 8 attempts.  He is giving up 2.25 runs a game.  We can win games giving up only 2 runs.  I still think we will win 70 games.  I still think we won’t loss 100 games. I can always hope (and yes that hope is not certain like another hope that I have).

What about Chiefs?  Well, I don’t know.  We are getting a brand new team.  It will be interesting starting in a couple months to see what is going to happen.  Are we finally going to attempt to train a young QB instead of going to veteran like Green or Damon.  What about the offensive line?  We didn’t draft any Offensive Linemen?  Will the number 1 draft choice be an impact player?

Oh, remember God is here in our midst and he gives us everything we need…do I trust him? Do we trust him?
