sport notes/random thoughts

27 01 2007

Okay, so I love sports.  I am excited that the Colts are in the Super Bowl and am going to cheering for them next weekend.  I know I am going against the Bears but I just like the Colts more Tony Dungy and Manning.

The next thing KSU has won the last few gamesd: MU, Baylor, Chicago State, and Iowa State.  We play Nebraska and MU next and we should win but underline the word should (we are at KSU).  The games after that will show what kind of team we are – we play KU and Texas…

On another note, I am reading Captivating and it talks about how women are wired for relationships.  I was nervous about the book with the first couple chapters talking about Eve, but some truth in Chapter 3 really hit me because it said…

“We women hide.  We hide behind our makeup.  We hide behind our humor.  We hide with angry silences and punishing withdrawls.  We hide our truest selves and offer only wanted is wanted, what is safe.   We act in self-protective ways and refuse to offer what we truly see, believe, and know.  We will not risk rejection or looking like a fool.  We have spoken in the past and been met with blank stares and mocking guffaws.  We will not do it again.  We hide because we are afraid.  We have been wounded and wounded deeply.  People have sinned against us and we have sinned as well.  To hide means to remain safe, to hurt less.  At least that is what we think.  And so by hiding, we take matters into our own hands.  We don’t return to our God with our broken and desperate hearts.  And it has never occurred to us that in all our hiding, something precious is also lost – something the world needs from us so very, very much.”

It caused me to think how I hide a lot.  It just hit home….

Okay, I have been pretty quiet lately because I have been sick – real sick.  I was out of work for 5 days.  I had a fever, cough, and the chills.  I couldn’t sleep very well and finally went to the doctor this past Monday and gave me some meds. I slept very well last night – despite getting up at the crack of dawn.

I missed Life Group so much on Monday.  I was sitting at home thinking about them.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone Monday.

Also, KSU finally won a conference game against MU and Baylor.  I am nervous about this weekend at Iowa State – they are tough at home just ask KU (who has an awesome team this year – shhh! don’t allow fellow K-Staters hear that – ha ha).     We shall see if we can progress any – NIT or NCAA (which I doubt the NCAA).  March Madness is a month and half away!  GO WILDCATS!!!

Okay, so KSU has lost three games in a row.  We lost our big recruit this year Bill Walker and it is not looking bright for this year.  GRRR.

If we can shoot the ball we might be able to win.  We desperately need some  better shooters.  Maybe next years class with be better… I hope so…

The Week that was

5 01 2007

Okay, so it has been a pretty quiet week!  I basically hung out at home a lot this past week.  I think that is good since I have a busy schedule starting soon.  My Life Group starts back up on Monday and let me tell you I missed them!  I missed the laughes, the sharing, the praying together, and studying the Word, and most of all the accountability.  I am excited to see everyone!

I have two days off again this week.  One day is going to be appointments and possibly a lunch with a friend and then Friday is my annual personal retreat for goal setting and planning for the year.

Overall, a good week.  I am blessed and so thankful that God is speaking to me right now about so many areas of my life – where to begin is the question.

Oh the Chiefs play the Colts tomorrow in Indy ( a great town).  I have been in the dome where the Colts play and it is pretty cool – it’s right next to the convention center.  I went to Indianapolis when I was in High School and Louisville, KY for a Youth Conference.
